Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (ALIF)

Case 2

• Mr ARB
•  41-year-old man
• Nursing personnel
• Severe chronic back pain
• Unable to ambulate to work due to associated left posterior thigh pain
• MRI show 2 level disc degeneration (black discs) associated with annular tears and bulging of discs

Procedure

• Anterior approach discectomies performed at 2 levels of discs to remove diseased discs.
• Disc spaces implanted with a self locking stand alone interbody cage filled with bone graft and locked with screws to maintain fusion.
